Assistant Professor in Childhood & Youth Studies at Carleton University
I am an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Interdisciplinary Studies at Carleton University. I completed my doctorate in Curriculum Studies & Teacher Development at the Ontario Institute of Studies in Education (OISE) in the University of Toronto. I have an MA in Curriculum Studies from the same institution and a BSc in Psychology.
I am a passionate community educator and organizer. My research and pedagogical interests lie at the intersections of identity, culture, race, and migration. Some of my past research has focused on the importance of relationships in teaching and learning as a site of healing and resistance for marginalized communities in the mainstream education system. My approach to teaching is grounded in anti-oppression, equity, and feminist theories; I believe in honoring diverse knowledges while pushing ourselves out of our comfort zone to learn from each other.
